Thought Swaps
Nov 04, 2025I have recently discovered how MUCH I do this. As the name implies, it's simply swapping one thought for another.
You might be thinking, isn't that what you teach us to do? Well, kind of... Hear me out.
We always get to choose our thoughts. And I encourage us to choose positive, or at least neutral, thoughts. But before we work on thinking the new thought, there might be work to do on the old thought.
In the video, I use the analogy of changing a car tire. We can't put the new tire on, without taking the old tire off. But with our thoughts, we can put the new thought on, without taking off (or processing) the old thought.
This creates a duplicity, an internal conflict, or concurrent struggle in different directions. As you would imagine driving a car with 2 tires on at the same time.
We've discussed choosing thoughts. We've discussed processing emotions.
This week, these two come together.
