How good are you at making decisions?
Apr 14, 2026Have you ever thought about this for yourself? Do you have anything currently in your life that needs a decision?
What was a recent decision you made, how did you make it?
Do you have a decision protocol or process you follow when making a decision?
And what happens after the decision? Do you consider setbacks as a sign that you made the wrong decision? Do you consider a certain outcome as a failure? Or as feedback?
When we have a decision to make and we don't make it, we stay stuck in an open loop. We (inadvertently) create a state of inner turmoil or conflict. The indecision sets up an internal conflict that can escalate into a mental and emotion war inside of us.
This takes an enormous amount of energy that is just wasted on staying stuck. A recent article I read said that a person that permits this indecision to exist is virtually incapable of any type of productivity. That they are simply existing, not really living.
This article also refers to Decision as a magic mental activity. Notice where making a decision has felt magical for you!
Of all the methods or processes for making a decision, I'm going to encourage you to be aware of your gut or intuition. What does your body tell you as you're thinking through your decision? What feels like the right decision?
Maybe what's the worst case scenario? Also, give time to what's the best case scenario.
I also encourage you to make the decision right where you are with whatever you got. Use your intuition as a guide, use what you got, and decide.
Proficient decision makers also have a strong self-image and high self-esteem. Which makes sense, right? You want to have your own back for every decision.
The alternative is staying stuck in the indecision. Allowing the indecision to setup internal conflicts. Wasting energy on trying to avoid the decision.
Think of a current decision you need to make or a recent decision you made. What is your process for thinking it through? How does making a decision feel for you? Why does it feel this way?
