Are you a Responsible Person?

beleifs responsibility responsible thoughts Jun 23, 2026

Today we explore this definition. I am loving exploring definitions of words and getting curious about how a word is working FOR me or against me. When I find the definition is working against me, I change it. I change my thoughts and beliefs around it, so the word can work for me.

I don't want to remove the word from my vocabulary, but I do want to change how I think about it.

The definitions I found are interesting and most of them also ambiguous. They leave a lot of "assumptions" that we basically have accumulated from our environment over the years.

Things like "good judgement" and "moral decisions" and "rational thought or action". These all have adjectives that are subjective.

I noticed that I didn't think I was measuring up in some of these areas. So, I explored deeper. Based on what? Says who?

I noticed I thought I was responsible in some areas, but not others. And the ones where I thought I wasn't responsible, that's how I was showing up in that area. So, I was thinking I'm not responsible and I was showing up not responsible.

Funny how that works! I was creating my reality with my thoughts...hmmm. I think I've heard that somewhere before.

It was interesting that I didn't think I was responsible in an area, but I didn't think I was irresponsible. When I explored the definition and looked at how I handling things in certain areas, I was actually using good judgement, making moral decisions, and using rational thoughts and actions. So, by definition, I was being responsible.

When I imagine thinking I was responsible in an area I previously didn't think I was, I imagined showing up completely different. If I was responsible, what would I do in this situation? I looked at things very differently.

I've been having so much fun with looking at definitions and getting curious about how I'm thinking about things. I have noticed a lot of inherited assumptions - conditional programmed thinking. And where this is not creating my desired result, I have decided to change.

I'm changing definitions for myself and changing my thoughts and beliefs, so I can create a different result. It's been refreshing and empowering.
